I have had a lot of great teachers. But there are two that really stand out in my memory that I feel made a huge impact on me. The first one was my kindergarten teacher. She was so positive and kind to us. She loved us and we loved her. I knew from kindergarten on, that I wanted to be a teacher of young children. The second teacher was my homeroom teacher in high school. He was funny, positive, fair, and had high expectations. He was perceptive about all of us and knew how to help each of us feel better if we were having a tough time. He really tried to get-to-know us and made us feel like family. We adored him!

I have to agree with you Krista. I had a lot of outstanding teachers! Teachers I remember that made an impact on my life challenged and loved me at the same time. I can remember being highly engaged with teachers through literacy. I can remember my first grade teacher, Ms. Hastings, reading the chapter book Island of the Blue Dolphins aloud and how glued I was to this story. Then there were the math teachers that taught problems step by step. They would work through any homework problem that I was struggling with solving. I realized I liked math through the support and instruction I received from those teachers. Essentially, great teachers encourage and allow students to feel excited about learning. This book was a great reminder of how we are continuously learning and growing just like our students. Setting high expectations for our students and forming strong relationships with our students and their families will make a high impact on student achievement,
